TDC Selects Bill Baxter as Interim Executive Director

September 17, 2008 – The Torrington Development Corporation (TDC) is pleased to announce the selection of Bill Baxter as the new Interim Executive Director. The Board of Directors unanimously voted to approve this appointment based upon the recommendation of the Search Committee.

Bill brings six years of municipal government experience as the First Selectman of New Hartford. In that position, he successfully acquired and utilized $1.25 million in state grants for infrastructure and downtown revitalization programs.

His economic development experience includes serving on the Northwest CT Economic Development Corporation and the New Hartford Economic Development Commission. In addition, Bill served as Chair of the Litchfield Hills Council of Elected Officials and was an instrumental part in developing a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the Litchfield Hills region.

Bill will utilize his municipal and economic development background as well as his knowledge of the region to support, coordinate and expedite plans to enhance the economic revitalization of Downtown Torrington.
